“To grow without losing our essence” was the objective of César Martín and Marina Launay, chef and maître respectively, both soul and owners of Lakasa, when they decided to relocate their successful restaurant. This was the reason that they sought out Touza Arquitectos to give shape to this new 300m² space, given the studio’s experience in restaurant decoration. César and Marina got involved in the project in a unique way, transmitting their desire for the decoration to give priority to two fundamental aspects present in the cuisine and in the service: quality and detail.. The renovation project for Lakasa, now located in Madrid’s plaza del Conquistador Diego Ordás, paid special attention to the bar area, with high tables, upholstered stools by Fenabel and natural light. A bar was designed with an upper piece covered in strips of tinted and weathered pine and a metallic plate painted black. In contrast, the lower part of the bar, finished off with a natural wood countertop, gives an appearance of concrete with textured formwork strips. Meanwhile, the back wall has been covered in Delhi Natural Home slate, from L’Antic Colonial.

The dining area, with tables from Ondarreta, chairs from Fenabel and flooring in natural oak, runs parallel to large windows overlooking the square and a large latticework. Made out of square metallic tubes in black oven-baked paint, this composition serves to divide the ambiances and has been completed with metallic perforated plates in black and rust colour and tinted and weathered natural wood boxes of different sizes. This is how the “warm and meticulous” atmosphere was created, and this can be appreciated when walking across the natural oak floor, touching the textures of the slate and the concrete of the wall coverings, or discovering one atmosphere after another thanks to the lighting project by Con Luz Propia.
