The Laureate International Universities education group entrusted Touza Arquitectos with the interior design of its new design and technology campus “BTK+BiTS” in Berlin, located between Potsdamer Platz and Anhalter Bahnhof, in the Kreuzberg district. During the process of converting the office building into a new university tied to the graphic design, technology, graphic arts, advertising, etc. branches of education, the interior design department of the study was asked to create a suitable identity that combines the cultural and eclectic spirit of Berlin with the distinguishing features of a centre that inspires students’ creativity, dynamism, innovation… The objective was to create an environment for creativity and innovation, where students, teachers, as well as businessmen and institutions from the global world of art and design, business and communication could meet and exchange ideas for their mutual enrichment.

The centre has more than 6,500m2 where large meeting and interaction areas, a garden terrace connected to the cafeteria, a large hall with meeting and team work areas, co-working rooms, library, lecture room, and equipped rooms (photography studio, animation studio, laboratory, advanced digital equipment…) stand out. There is also a workshop, exhibition areas and a large Audimax (conference hall), as well as a guidance office and a student services centre. The interior design project was led from the interior design department by Maribel García, and due to the international nature of the project, was developed, managed and implemented “on site” in Berlin, in collaboration with the Berlin architecture studio Hoyer Architekten, authors of the architecture project. The furniture, custom-designed for this project, and developed by the Spanish company Sutega, is also highlighted.
